Diamonds: timeless, elegant, irresistible. But when is a diamond truly ‘natural’, and how do you choose the right one for you? We’re here to mindfully guide you through the world of diamonds, so you can make a choice that feels right.

What is a natural diamond?

A natural diamond is a gemstone formed billions of years ago, deep within the earth, under immense pressure and heat. Unlike lab-grown diamonds, which are created in a controlled environment over the course of weeks, a natural diamond carries a different origin story. And although natural and lab-grown have their unique properties, they both bring the premium sparkle every piece of jewellery deserves.

When you choose natural diamond jewellery, you’re choosing more than a decorative item. Natural diamonds contains the history and magic of the earth – your diamond jewel means you carry a small piece of the earth’s own story with you.

The 4 Cs of diamonds: Colour, Cut, Clarity and Carat

When choosing a diamond, let the 4 Cs gently guide the way:

Colour

Colour is one of the most telling factors in a diamond’s value. They range from colourless to soft tones of yellow, brown, blue or pink. The most prized are the colourless diamonds — rarer, and the most luminous in the way they catch, and reflect, light.

Cut

The cut of a diamond shapes the way light moves through it — and therefore, the way it shines. A well-cut diamond catches the light with a soft, dazzling brilliance. A less precise cut, by contrast, can leave a stone looking dull, with little of the sparkle we all know and expect from diamonds.

Clarity

Clarity refers to the small marks, ‘imperfections’  inside or on a diamond — known as ‘inclusions’. The fewer inclusions, the more precious the diamond is seen tobe. A diamond with no visible inclusions is called ‘flawless’, the highest grade of clarity. The clearer the diamond, the brighter the shine — and the higher its premium.

Carat

Carat is the unit used to measure a diamond’s weight. One carat equals 0.2 grams — roughly the weight of a paperclip. Whilst the carat value shapes a diamond’s monetary value, it doesn’t tell the whole story. The other Cs — colour, cut and clarity — all play their part in determining what a diamond is ultimately worth.

Natural vs. lab-grown diamonds: what’s the difference?

Natural and lab-grown diamonds are chemically identical — what sets them apart is where they come from. Natural diamonds form over billions of years, deep in the earth’s crust, under extreme pressure and heat. Lab-grown diamonds, by contrast, are created in a laboratory over the course of weeks, where the natural conditions are carefully recreated.

Both carry their own beauty and shine. A natural diamond holds the magic of ancient times; a lab-grown diamond carries a more sustainable and ethical story. Each has its own appeal, depending on what matters most to you.

A shine that lasts a lifetime

The beauty of a diamond lies in its timeless pull. The light, the shine, and the story it carries — all of it makes your natural diamond more than just a stone. It becomes a small symbol of your own story. Whether as an engagement ring, a birthday gift, or something special just for you — a diamond is a gift that can be held, treasured and passed on for generations to come.

Diamonds are not only an investment in beauty, but in memories too. They keep their shine, generation after generation — a lasting reminder of the moments that mean the most.
